It's boring to do the same thing all the time. At least, that's what we thought after riding the same bike route over, and over, and over again while training for charity rides.

That's when we had this idea: wouldn't it be great if there were an application that would create routes for you (walking routes, running routes, biking routes, any routes) the way you want them, and would offer you an infinite number of alternatives? These routes would start, and end, at the same place (your house, a hotel, wherever) and would travel for some desired distance in a randomly oriented closed loop.

After we had that thought, we also realized that none of the existing mapping applications is very good at doing this. Those applications are great at doing what they do -- helping -- you get from one location to another location, the same way, every time. But to get a closed loop, you would have to build it yourself, and you lose all of the advantages of having an application generate random routes for you that you can try out and use to discover places that you didn't know about, even in your own backyard.

Enter RouteLoops. RouteLoops is the exercise enthusiast's virtual ride planner. We started with the basic idea (see US Patent 7162363) and now we have made it easy for you to use. Powered by iMapTools, RouteLoops only needs you to tell it where you want to start your walk, or run, or ride, tell it how far you want to go, and that's all there is to it. RouteLoops will generate a route for you, show it to you on a map, and deliver it to you in a variety of formats. If you don't like the look of it, click again and RouteLoops will deliver another route to you. Go ahead, click all you want. RouteLoops doesn't get tired.

In 1841, Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesman and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do."

RouteLoops. Explore your world. Expand your mind. Engage your soul.
